School Sewing Programs

Through the Walker’s Point Center for the Arts and MPS I have been able to teach after school sewing programs and summer camps. I have taught weaving, knitting, embroidery, dyeing, fabric painting and sewing. Some of our projects have included: pillow cases, pajama pants, book bags, stuffed monsters, scarves and of course, costumes.

When I work with high schools on theatre productions I have a student assistant that works closely with me through all processes. I have many other students who show up when they can. I keep an open door policy and all students are welcome. They are taught basic hand stitching skills and put to work on many hems. One of the joys of working on shows is the camaraderie that develops when a group of people work for a common goal.
